What goes into a code-compliant ERC system
Most new construction and many major renovations now fall under a public-safety radio coverage requirement, commonly referred to as an ERC or Emergency Responder Communication system, sometimes called a Public Safety DAS. The rule exists for a simple reason: modern buildings are built with steel framing, concrete, low-E glass, and below-grade parking, all of which block the two-way radio signal fire and police crews depend on. If a firefighter's radio goes dead in a stairwell or basement during an incident, that's a life-safety failure, and jurisdictions across California now require buildings to be tested and certified against it.
An ERC system amplifies the local public-safety radio frequency and distributes it through a network of antennas placed throughout the building, so responders get a usable signal everywhere they need to go, including underground parking, interior stairwells, and elevator shafts. The design has to be engineered to the specific radio frequencies your local fire department and police department operate on, since every jurisdiction's public-safety network is different.

Getting a system installed is only half of the requirement. Most jurisdictions require annual testing and recertification to confirm the system is still performing to spec, along with documentation that has to be kept on file and produced during fire inspections. We handle both the initial installation and the ongoing testing, so your building stays compliant without you having to track code changes or renewal dates yourself.
